Day 1 Cochin:
Arrive Kochi, you will be met and assisted by a Tamarind representative and would be transferred to your hotel.Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city, also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala. The twin cities of Fort Cochin and Mattancherry have preserved an extraordinary wealth of really old colonial architecture spanning the Portuguese, Dutch and the British eras. Kathakali is the most recognized dance drama form in Kerala. It dates back to the seventeenth century and is deeply rooted in mythology, taking it themes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Costumes and makeup are dramatically characteristic of the dance, and the technique involves highly intricate gestures and expressions. Overnight in Cochin.
Day 2 Cochin – Kumarakom:
This morning after breakfast enjoy a half-day tour of Cochin. Visit Fort Cochin… walks to the church of St Francis, the oldest European-built church in the country. Also explore the 282-year-old Dutch Cemetery in Fort Kochi. Continue your tour with a visit to Mattancherry, where you will visit the historic synagogue in the Jewish Quarter, built over 400 years ago. You will also visit the Mattancherry or Dutch Palace, constructed in 1555. The palace has a fine collection of mural paintings. Thereafter, drive past the amazing Chinese Fishing Nets, strung out along the tip of the peninsula. Also drive past Willingdon Island, a man-made island that belongs to the Port Trust and the Indian Navy. Further to the sightseeing drive to Kumarakom (90 kms/ 2 hrs). Kumarakom, a charming village on the eastern bank of Vembanadu Lake surrounded by paddy fields, is an ideal place for a backwater cruise. Arrive Kumarakom and check in to your hotel. Later, enjoy an evening cruise on the backwaters of Kumarakom. Overnight in Kumarakom
Day 3 Kumarakom:
Day at leisure. Indulge in some Ayurvedic massages available at the resort on direct payment basis. Overnight in Kumarakom.
Day 4 Kumarakom – Mararikulam:
This morning after breakfast proceed to Mararikulam (20 Kms / 30 minutes). The village of Mararikulam lies on a forgotten shore, midway up the Malabar Coast, where the Indian Ocean finally decides that it has now become the Arabian Sea. Arrive Mararikulam and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Mararikulam.
Day 05 Mararikulam: Day at leisure. Enjoy pristine beach of Mararikulam take long walks or bicycle rides. Indulge in some Ayurvedic massages available at the resort on direct payment basis. Overnight in Mararikulam
Day 06 Mararikulam - Cochin – Overseas:
This day, you will be transferred to Cochin airport (83 kms/ 2 hrs) for your flight to onward destination.
